Lunch & Learn Lecture Series

The Polk County History Center invites guests to bring lunch and listen to a guest speaker on the third Tuesday of each month.
- April’s lecture is from Craig Pittman on Manatee Insanity.

Boeing, Boeing

Venue:
Lakeland Community Theatre
- This 1960’s French farce, adapted for the English-speaking stage, is a high-flying, sexy comedy produced by the Lakeland Community Theatre.

Race for the Kids 2013 US Title Series Boat Races
Date: Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 21
Venue:
Lion’s Park, Lake Alfred
- Presented by the Race for the Kids Foundation, over 80 teams from across the U.S. will compete in these hydroplane boat races featuring multiple classes of watercraft on beautiful Lake Alfred at Lion’s Park in the city of Lake Alfred.

Explorations V Annual Children’s Festival
Date:
Saturday, April 20
Venue: Explorations V Children’s Museum, Lakeland
- The festival will include art, science, music, woodworking, a bounce house, entertainment and many other hands-on activities throughout the nearby Munn Park.
- The theme of the festival is: Celebrating Florida’s Children through Tourism, History, Animals and Agriculture, and Lowry Park Zoo shows and a bicycle give-away are also scheduled for the event.

Good Ol’ Days Festival
Date: Saturday, April 20
Venue:
Homeland Heritage Park, Homeland
- This festival is designed for the entire family with activities that include: a kids zone, pioneer games, make-your-own-butter and ice cream, lasso demos, live music, craft demos, interpretations, Buffalo Soldiers, Cow Camp, a Victorian Tea and fashion show and more.

Highland City Community Market
Date: Saturday, April 20
Venue:
First Baptist Church of Highland City, Lakeland
- Highland City Community Market takes place monthly at the First Baptist Church of Highland City and features fresh produce, homemade food specialties, hand-crafted items, yummy food vendors, new items, local businesses, pet services and products.

Innovations Dance Series
Date: Saturday, April 20

Polk Theatre, Lakeland
- You don’t want to miss an exciting evening of dance as Florida Dance Theatre celebrates their “Innovations Dance” series with a performance that will once again bring new and inventive choreography to the Polk Theatre stage.

Lakeland Raiders vs. Sarasota Thunder

Venue:
The Lakeland Center
- The Raiders have a total of six home games at The Lakeland Center this season with four home games remaining: April 20, April 28, May 4 and May 18.
- Home kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the April 28 game, which will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Mulberry Farmers Market

- This farmers market occurs on the third Saturday of each month, and you can find fresh produce, craft vendors, great food and live entertainment there.

Platform Art Party #21

- Platform Art is gearing up for its 10-year anniversary with a signature event, Art Party 21, and a celebration of visual art, film, fashion, sound and performance art in a fun, unimposing setting on Saturday, April 20 in Lakeland.

Mid Florida Bike MS: The Citrus Tour 2013
Date:
Saturday, April 20 – Sunday, April 21
Venue:
Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales
- Join the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid Florida Chapter for their annual two-day 150 mile Bike MS Citrus Tour.
- The ride begins Saturday, April 20 at Bok Tower Gardens and travels through Central Florida to the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, and the route reverses on Sunday, April 21.
- The tour is open to both individual and team participants.
